The world could be facing a potential shortage of food. The reasons for this are many, but the most significant is the growing population.
1.Population
The world's population is projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, and with more mouths to feed, the demand for food will only increase tremendously which will affect the world's economic growth as well. If this happens, the world will have to experience poverty and hike in price of other economic commodities.
2. Climate
Climate change is also playing a role, as extreme/harsh weather conditions are becoming more common and disrupting food production. As we've seen is some parts of the world where lingering drought, floods, hurricane, earthquakes and some other climatic hazards.
Additionally, soil degradation is making it more difficult to grow crops, and water scarcity as earlier mentioned,i another major issue in many parts of the world.
Also, wars/crisis and political bikering is another reason some of the world's food producing regions can no longer produce foods as it use to.
As the demand for food grows and the supply becomes more uncertain, the prices of food are likely to increase. This will put food out of reach for many people, especially those who are already struggling to make ends meet. The situation is especially dire in developing countries, where the majority of the population lives hand-to-mouth. A food crisis could lead to widespread hunger, malnutrition, and even starvation.
The world could be facing a potential shortage of food, and the situation would see the world economic systems becoming poor and epileptic, recession famine. The food shortage in the world is imminent fast looming upon us as the sun up and down every day.
